American Schenk´s

Telling about the Schenk´s tribe that comes from Dlouhá Loučka (Unter Landendorf).

It was few years ago when I got an e-mail from America. It was Mark Schenk who wrote and informed me that he was Riedel after his mother and Schenk afther his father. Mark is a priest and since September 2006 he has worked in Rome in „General Council of the Capuchin Franciscan Order“.
I could not help myself and started to look for this incomplete line. It was not a big job to find out where all of these descendants belonged. Mark´s great-grandfather Johann Riedl (*31.12.1815) born in Šumvald nb.96 was brother of my great-grandfather Vendelín (* 20.10.1819). Johann with his wife Clare Skopilová and their children emigrated about the year 1880 to America. Johann´s great-granddaughter Mary Josephine Riedel married Bernard Richard Schenk. This way the tribe of Riedl joined the tribe of Schenk – this time in America. The ancestors of Mark Schenk were from the community Passek (Paseky), later from Unter Landendorf (Dlouhé Loučky). Dlouhá Loučka and Šumvald neighbor together and it is possible but rather probable that this tribe has got the same ancestors as George Schenk – Synek but it is already another chapter waiting for somebody who will start to write it.

Generation 1 – Joseph Schenk
The oldest one from the known ancestors of this line is Joseph who was born in 1742 in the community Passek. Passek - today the community Paseky which is distant about 3 km from Dlouhé Loučky (Unter Lagendorf) where Joseph died. His wife was Johanna Flachsel. We know that Joseph and Johanna had a son:
Johan Joseph * 28.1.17777, Unter Langendorf - continuation of the observed line.

Generation 2 – Johann Josef Schenk
Johann was born 28.1.1777, Unter Langendorf. Johann married Marina Siegel (6.8.1787). They probably had more children as it was customary. We only know the only son:
Ferdinand * 17.2.1817, - continuation of the observed line
Johann died in his 51 years, his wife lived other 34 years and died in her 75 years.

Generation 3 – Ferdinand Schenk
Ferdinad was also born probably in Unter Landendorf 17.2.1817. He married Josephinpa Krones (*31.12.1818) from Ober Landendorf. Ferdinand and Josephina had 5 children:
Joseph * 18.2.1843, Unter Landendorf nb.93 – no other information
Theresia * 11.3.1845, Unter Landendorf nb.93 – no other information
Ferdinand * 28.1.1848, Unter Landendorf nb.93 - continuation of the observed line
Josepha * 24.2.1852, Unter Landendorf nb.93, she died in her 13 years
Franz * 18.6.1854, Unter Landendorf nb.93
Josephina died in 1878 in her 60 years. When exactly Ferdinand died we do not know.

Generation 4 – Ferdinand Schenk
Ferdinand was born 28.1.1848 in Unter Landendorf nb.93 and yet in Bohemia he married Teresa Flachsel (Theresa was born 24.2.1851 as a child of Alois Flachsel and Theresie Bittnerová). Ferdinand and Theresa had 11 children, some of them were born in Bohemia, the others live in America. Franz (1854) belongs to the 4th generation as well. He emigrated to America with his brother Ferdinand.
